I'm considering getting the ATT version and unlocking it for use on a Canadian carrier. Are there any issues getting USB tethering working for non-ATT carriers?
I have a Canadian Moto X (SIM unlocked) running Rogers firmware and will be going to the US for a few weeks. I'd like to use my phone on AT&T's GoPhone service, but I've heard tethering is blocked on GoPhone (usually disabled on iPhones & AT&T-branded phones). Since I'm running a non-AT&T FW, will the tethering option disappear or is it an AT&T/VZW-specific thing?
First off, if it matters, I have the Verizon Galaxy Nexus.
I went from running DarkPA 2.54 (or there-abouts) and was tethering pretty much as my main internet. Laptop, Xbox, PS3, Vita, etc, that were all working just fine with little to no hiccups in performance.
PSA About Tethering Discussion here at Android Forums:
It looks like AF's Site Owner and Admin have decided to take a stance on tethering without a plan. We know that we have talked about it, promoted it, and helped people with issues with tethering. However, now we have a new policy in place.
I recently upgraded from an LG Optimus One phone to a Galaxy Nexus. On my Optimus One, USB tethering worked flawlessly. However, I flashed tons of different ROMs to find the ones that worked better than others. Some didn't work at all. Some were flaky.
I'm currently using AOSPA 4.2.2 PARANOIDANDROID 3.5 (May15) α5 with 3.0.75+-RUBIK-AK-r30 kernel. Wi-Fi tethering works perfectly.
Anyone figure out how to get wifi tethering working?
I used to use "Wifi Tethering for Root Users" but it doesnt seem to be working any more.
I think there was a modified version that I had used but cant remember where I grabbed it from...
Any help will be appreciated.
Can anyone help me? Got an email yesterday from AT&T warning me to stop tethering (free), or else. My note 2 is rooted and running Scott's Rom's Clean Rom Ace 5.0. ? I was tethering with portable wi-fi hot spot app. Using about 8 gig per month.
As my carrier don't want i use tethering on my device ( they drops money from my SIM!) i've made a simple app that bypass the carrier check when i enable tethering.
I'm not a code master, i've made it just for fun, and some of you, looking at the code, probably, will make a huge facepalm
( if you have some hints to make it better, i'm here to learn :D )
I received a letter from Sprint yesterday regarding my tethering usage haha. Anyways, they warned if I continue to do it I will be dropped. My question is do all the 3rd party tethering apps (I use the hot spot hack) show my usage as tethering as well?
