I'm running F17 64-bit Xfce.
How do I copy files from the hard drive to a USB stick with Thunar?
Either the paste function is disabled or the file looks to be copied, but when the stick is reinserted it's not there after all.
So I installed Nautilus, but the same happens.
I can, though, delete files already on the sticks.
I don't remember any such problems with F16.

I have mounted a USB stick with Stick Mount but cannot find the sda1. I have sda2 thru sda12, but no 1 (one) in ES File Explorer. Any tips where that could be hiding.
I've managed to get automout to work and I thought I was sorted. Now I tried to copy a file into my USB stick and I get a splicing error. I formatted the drive using gparted FAT32. When I start gparted it shows an error mounting sdb which is the hard drive I'm trying to copy from. Otherwise I can read and write fine from that drive.
I successfully created a Suse Live on a USB flash drive based on the instruction at Live USB stick - openSUSE.
I also created the second partition with the instruction on the same page but I don't know how to access the second partition when my computer is booted up with Suse live on a USB memory stick.
I know that there is a lot of software and even in Windows or Linux you can just use commands to do it, but all these alternatives needs to FORMAT the usb stick.
What I'm looking for is some alternative to create an usb booteable stick without the need of formatting it.
That's because I usually have an usb stick that I use to transport files and everything, and I don't like having to backup thes
Hi,
I'm trying to create a customized debian installer on a USB key.
I found a tutorial on how to create the usb key.
After the USB key is prepared, all you have to do is to copy the iso file to the stick.
So what I need to do now is to be able to modify the content of the iso file before copying it to the usb stick.
I found how to mount iso file to a mount poinr but I can't find a way to chan
I've seen a few different questions about ls hanging. It's usually because they use the -l switch, which causes a stat on the file, which in turn is a bad symlink or pointing to an NFS mount or some such.
I have a local file (in an old copy of the Git source that somebody else unpacked, of all things) that causes stat to hang, but responds to CTRL-C.
