I have a 5 speaker set that plugs into one audio out(two front/two rear and subwoofer).
However, I have an inspiron 660 with this card:

card 0: PCH [HDA Intel PCH], device 0: CONEXANT Analog [CONEXANT Analog]
Subdevices: 1/1
Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
I had previously had a sb live or something prior to upgrading to the dell inspiron 660
I can not seem to get the sound from gtk-recordmydekstop to record the sounds right off of my desktop or from my headset.

I have two different sound devices for output:
"Internal Audio Analog Stereo" for headphones
"High Definition Audio Controller Digital Stereo (HDMI)" for speakers
For example: if I open a music player and start a song, it plays out fine from speakers. But when I try to control volume it controls "Internal Audio Analog Stereo" instead of HDMI.

My problem is that the laptop build-in speakers don't play any sound. When i plug in my headphones the sound works normally, the same goes with external speakers.
Hi,
With the update to kernel 2.6.30 the analog loopback option in advanced volume control panel vanished (at least for intel hda soundchips).

indicates that this is due to some change.
i did a clean install on ubuntu 12.10. Everything seemed fine at first including sound but after a while it stopped working.
I have an XBMCBuntu installation (based on Ubuntu 11.10), meaning that I don't have a graphical desktop environment installed.
I've connected a set of USB speakers, and for about a minute or two, running pacmd list-sinks yields only one sink: my laptop's onboard sound card.
After about 3 minutes, running the same command yields both the original sound card and the USB speakers, at which point I
I'm trying to solve a problem with sound and USB ports in Fedora 17.
After many months of trouble free operation the sound and front panel USB ports have stopped working on my Fedora 17 desktop system.
Sound does not work in any application (Mplayer, Kaffine, Firefox, etc).
Simple sound configuration, analog audio out to two speakers.
hmmm. so I plugged in a TV with an HDMI cable and got video! awesome! but oh no, there's no sound!
This is from a laptop with an ATI Radeon card built in. Analog audio works and plays out from the laptop's speakers. But selecting the HDMI card doesn't play audio out the TV speakers. I know the hardware is good, because it works in Ubuntu, and so linux can do it.
