upgrading SUSE64 + removing SUSE32 & XP

http://forums.opensuse.org – Hello there, I have a quite complicated stuff on my server (6 physical HD in different raid modus raid to get 1*250Gb +2*500gb available): My situataion now: XP on sda Suse32_10.2 on sdb Suse64_10.3 on sdc ( / on sdc1 + /home on sdc2 ) Now I'd like to have only: new! Suse64_11 on the /sdc1 old /home on sdc2 I want to install from zero Suse64_11, not to upgrade from 10.3. I want to format completely the other units where XP and SUSE32 are and get this space available for suse 64 11. Can I manage it just with the installation DVD of SUSEx64_11? what exactly should I do? many thanks, Alex (Distributions)

I have three drives (sda, sdb and sdc) which are partitioned into two partitions each set to "raid linux autodetect". The first partition is used for a RAID 0, the second partition for a RAID 1 on LVM.

For some reason sdc1 drops out of the RAID 0 and can only be re-added after a reboot. sdc2 stays in its RAID 1 though.

I am getting crazy with my system.(I got the machine from previous guy working on it with XP, I installed myself linux, but with zero experience, 2 years ago).

starting point yesterday: 3 HDs in raid, SUSE 10.3 x64 installed on sdc1 with problems, XP on sda, SUSE 10.2 x32 on sda as well:

I am trying to clone SD card which may contain number of partitions, some of them Ubuntu cannot recognize. Generally, I want to clone the whole volume, not only some partition.

Hi all, I'm a relative Linux newbie, and am currently dual-booting Win7 with Xubuntu 12.10.

However, I am aware that in 6 months time, a new version will come around which I will probably want to upgrade to. This is where my question comes in...

I have 6x WD Caviar Black 1,5 TB in Software RAID 10 / 1 / 0 (Centos 6.2 / mdadm)

I don't know why, but I have big trouble with speed of my raid.

I have 4x WD RE4 7200RPM 500GB. Size of RAID 5 is 1000GB.

Came home from work to a crashed RAID5 array in my 10.04 box.

I went into Disk Utility and stopped the array, and when I tried to restart the array I received this error:

Error assembling array: mdadm exited with exit code 1: mdadm: metadata format 00.90 unknown, ignored. mdadm: cannot open device /dev/sdc1: Device or resource busy mdadm: /dev/sdc1 has no superblock - assembly aborted
