Upgrading to Kernel 2.6.38 on Ubuntu 10.04

http://askubuntu.com – I installed the header and image packages for kernel 2.6.38-13-generic under Ubuntu 10.04, but now the Nvidia and Broadcom drivers keep crashing when I attempt to install them. I have been looking around for quite a while as far as these n300 adapter and use with bcmwl kernels, however I'm having quite a bit of trouble installing the package.

I have an hp pavilion dv5 series laptop, with ati hd 3450 graphics, 512m dedicated memory.

I have a problem with my sound card, that it won't play sound through it's own speakers. So i figured I need to install a new kernel, which I did.

I was updated my Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS kernel to version 3.5.0-18-generic so I need to recompile my broadcom-sta to work with the new kernel

I was run

ubuntu@ubuntu:~$ sudo dpkg-reconfigure broadcom-sta-dkms

I installed 12.10 the other day on my macBookPro 5,5 and have been having some problems setting up the wifi drivers.

I tried to connect to the internet with an ethernet cable but that wasn't recognized either. I managed to install fakeroot, dkms and bcmwl-kernel-source from the install disk.

I run dist-upgrade and I ended up with this error:

I'm trying to install Virtualbox on Ubuntu 12.10 64bit, (Kernel 3.5.0-23). I've already installed dkms, build-essential, linux-source, linux-kernel-headers, ... . I still get this error:

I upgraded Ubuntu from 10.04 to 12.04 but, I cannot install ATI/AMD proprietary FGLRX graphics driver.

Hardware:

640GB HDD 4GB MEMORY Intel i3 ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650

hello fellow ubuntu users, I have a Toshiba p875 s7200 laptop and at first I had no sound (except through headphones), then I installed alsa-hda-dkms and had sound from speakers, but I was having another issue with the system freezing.
