Hello! I have recently broke my Ubuntu's entire wireless install by going to the performance options and clicking on "Disable Wireless".
Good thing I have more than one laptop and a Windows partition on the other side of Ubuntu just in case. :lolflag:
Anyways, I have just installed ndiswrapper to try and fix my blinking network light. It worked just fine.

hello every body
i just installed ubuntu on my new laptop ( acer aspire 5732z) and i think i have a problem with my wireless driver
using windows i can detect wireless from any room in my house with a strong signal
but using ubuntu i need to be too close so my laptop can detect the wireless
Just recently installed Crunchbang Waldorf on my Acer Aspire One 722. My problem is that it will not connect to any local wireless networks. Two here are open, and one is secured (I forget the protocol). Upon selecting them in nm-applet it will spin for a while then show "The network connection has been disconnected", stop, then resume the cycle.
I just upgraded from 11.04 to 11.1 and now I have no built-in wireless. It does seem to be receiving since I can see the various systems in my neighbourhood including my own, but I'm not able to connect. When I plug my USB (Belkin) in it works fine.
After upgrading to 11.04, I have found that I can not select "Enable Wireless" because "wireless is disabled by hardware switch". There is a hardware switch for the wireless but playing with that seems to do nothing.
lspci says I have an Atheros Communications Inc.
in a terminal, and post everything under "Network controller" here.As a demonstration, this is what this section looks like on my computer:24:00.0 Network controller [0280]: Atheros Communications Inc.
