Hello, I've just upgraded to Ubuntu 11.10 from 11.04. If I switch the WiFi on (using the buttons Fn + F2), it finds no network. of course my home Wireless network works, as other devices can connect to it - and the same computer could just before the upgrade.
The connection through an Ethernet cable works perfectly, though.
Oh and..
I just installed Ubuntu 12.04 on a computer. I want to use this computer as a router for my other computers. The computer only has 1 network card, there is no slot for a second card. I can get the computer to connect to my ISP via pppoe and it can access the web. However the other computers on my local net can only see the router computer.
I have a computer that is connected to the internet via wifi. I then have a ethernet cable coming out from my wifi computer into another computer which has no wifi or place to plug into ethernet.
I have shared the wifi connection to the LAN port, and the computer successfully gets internet. But, on that computer I have a FTP server that I want the wifi network to be able to connect to.
Does Splashtop connect directly to computers running the streamer when it's connecting over WiFi, or does it still go through other servers? The video lags a lot more on the tablet than it seems to on the computer - there shouldn't be such a disparity over a 100Mbps WiFi, especially when the computer is wired to the network. This is using Splashtop 2, by the way.
Hi all,I have been using waldorf on my main computer for a couple of months now and it has been rock solid for me.
So I was on the computer today when it said not all updates where installed and I clicked on partial upgrade and then it popped up as distribution upgrade but what it shows me looks just like just a steam and a kernel upgrade or is it a legit distribution upgrade.
I don't want to upgrade to 13.04 until it's release date
I installed a stock 12.04 32 bit OS for a friend last night, he has no internet access where the computer is located. I would like to burn some packages (and their required dependencies) on a dvd to take over to him.
Is there an easy way to do this? I need vlc and plugins for video/audio.
I have over 6 computers that are not listed on a domain, just normal local logins. There is one computer which is called User-PC which has a RAID Array. We also have another computer called TV-PC which runs Media Center and records our tv. Both of these computers have shared folders.
I have Ubuntu 12.04.1 64 bit LTS and I hit ALT+F2 and I typed in update-manger -d. It keeps failing when it checks the packages and reverts back to Ubuntu 12.04.1 64 bit LTS.
