So I have been playing around with Ubuntu's changing backgrounds and thought someone here
might appreciate the fruits of this labour :)
So if you copy the 2 pieces of code below into your Pictures directory, you can make as many
of these types of backgrounds as you like :)
Template: This is the standard template used to create the background transitions:
Code:
<background>
<static&g
Let's say I have a theme I really love except that the background for apps/widgets is plain black and I want background to be the same as the wallpaper. Given that there is no setting for this, I assume I will need to learn how to open theme, replace plain background with wallpaper and reassemble theme.
Hey, I wanted to make a custom background, with it rotating between a sunny picture, a morning picture, an evening picture, and a night picture (it's the same picture, with the lighting edited w/ Gimp,) but I'm not quite sure on all the syntax of the precise.xml file used for animated/changing backgrounds.
Mainly, I just want to know the small things, like what unit of time <duration /> use
New Ubuntu 12.04 User -
Having Workspaces is quite useful, but is there a way to easily identify which is which? In other words, if I have a terminal open in three of the workspaces it would be nice to have (for instance) the background colour of each workspace unique.
Is there any way to do that or something similar (e.g. different wallpaper?)
Thanks...
Ubuntustudio 12.04, kernel 3.2.0-23-low latency Hp Pavillion MS 220la AMD Athlon(tm) X2 Dual core Processor 3250e 1500MHz.
When i last turned on the computer, i found only 1 workspace. At settings appeared 4 in number of workspaces, but only the workspace named 1. 3 other disappeared.
I ran an upgrade form 12.04 to 13.04, and everything worked fine. Then my laptop ran out of power, and when I powered it on again I have this weird problem with my personal account. When I try to log in, the loging splash screen gets stuck as a background, and I can't do anything, except switch account.
The Guest-account works fine, so I logged into that one, and tried to switch to my own.
I've tried setting two different wallpapers, but had no luck. When I press the home icon down there I can see the wallpaper I had set to, as well as when I am on the password screen. But, when I press the same button to go back from the home screen, I see a black background.
I am not sure if it is the rc7 kernel release or an update from the repos but the transition screen in lightdm is now gone. Thats means to say that the default background does not fade over to the chosen background from the Plymouth to lighdm transition.
Is it possible to have a transitional background for the kdm > ksplash > desktop processes.I was thinking that if this can be done for branding logos then can it be done for backgrounds also?Maybe then the branding and background 'incremental effect' could be loaded as 1 component...Something along the lines of say a background starting in greyscale > desaturated > full colou
