Due to stability issues with the newest Nvidia drivers (see this thread), I'd like to install the Nvidia 295.33 driver version on FC17. That is the newest driver that is reported to run well.
This driver is not available through rpmfusion for FC17, I believe. What would be the best way to get this driver installed on FC17, with the latest 3.4 kernel?

This is for cards that need the current driver. If you need a legacy driver (173 or 96) there are dkms packages as well, but I have no way to test them. Good luck!I have seen a few people having trouble with the proprietary Nvidia drivers on crunchbang. It should not be this way as installing the Nvidia drivers is quite painless in Debian.
Hello guys.
Hopefully someone knows a bit about the nvidia drivers. I am trying to install the drivers on a Lenovo Y580 that has a GTX 660M, running 12.04 64 bit.
Earlier today I downgraded the driver for my nvidia 240 GT from version 310 to version 304 using ubuntus "additional drivers" utility. After the install I rebooted but instead of opening unity and allowing me to login it booted into tty1 instead.
Is there a problem with the newest Nvidia driver in 12.10 beta 2? I was using driver 304.51 in version 12.04, but after upgrade and adding the repo, it says the most current driver is 304.43. If anyone has tried the newest, did it work? Want to know before I try manual install, thanks.
Hi,
I've been trying to get my graphic card working under ubuntu and opensuse but to no avail.
First, i tried through additional drivers, but after installation it keeps saying "this driver is activated but not currently in use". That is 3D-accelerated proprietary graphics driver for NVIDIA cards.
I noticed that the Nvidia driver installed by the 1 click install is version 195 whilst the driver on Nvidia's web site is 256. Is there any reason why the 1 click is so far behind?
Hello,
I've just installed Ubuntu 11.04 (64-bit). After installation I selected "NVIDIA accelerated graphics driver (version current) [Recommended] from the Additional Drivers dialog box and let it download and install.
