When i first installed fedora 17, i updated it etc did was needs to be done, updated the kernel, it shows up on computer startup[grub/boot menu w/e u guys wanna call it it shows Kernel Kernel [whatever version.] windows 7. and I now have just updated the kernel again, so I now have the 3 kernels to choose from + my windows, Kernel Kernel [update.] Kernel [latest update windows 7. And I only want to view the latest kernel.. What (HowTos)

Problem with kernel package. 37 weeks 1 day ago

I am running Fedora 15 on a second machine.

I had trouble booting Linux and I found that while grub started off trying to boot vmlinuz-2.6.43, I had to backtrack to vmlinuz-2.6.42 in order to boot. rpm -qa | grep kernel shows both kernel packages installed and rpm -ql ... shows the newer kernel should be in /boot, but it isn't.

The new updated Linux Kernel version 2.6.37 is now available for download. If you are still using the older Linux Kernel, it is highly recommend to update to this latest version 2.6.37. You can find many tutorial on how to install or update the Linux Kernel to the latest 2.6.37.

I just updated my kernel to kernel-2.6.29.5-191.fc11.x86_64 on my x64 system, after I reboot my machine, the Fedora loading bar comes up and finishes but then no gui comes up. I attempt to issue commands at the hanging prompt that comes up but nothing happens. I can boot into my older kernel just fine but not the updated one.

What can I do?

I have just updated my kernel to 3.7.5 due to software issues with DKMS, VirtualBox and the previous kernel not working (although I suppose the reason is somewhat irrelevant).

Since then, Grub2 has the old (what shipped with F18 / was updated with yum) kernel as the default, and looks similar to:

I've tried rebuilding Grub2 with grub2-makec

I am not sure what exactly to post so if I am missing some critical info please tell me.

Since I updated to the last kernel in Fedora (yum update) the system fail to start and instead I get this Kernel panic.

I encountered a bug in one of the newer kernel versions. There is no workaround; if I want to have sound at my system at all, I have to boot an older kernel version.

Hi, Using F17 on a AMD Sempron(tm) Processor 3100+, I updated the kernel to kernel-PAE-3.8.3-103.fc17.i686. When I boot it, it hangs after grub on the powernow-k8 BIOS function. When I boot back into kernel-PAE-3.7.9-104.fc17.i686 there is no problem. Should I file a bug for this ?
