I just installed Ubuntu and ran the first round of updates and rebooted. I'm not having any problems as of yet, but in Googling Ubuntu 12.04 updates, I see a lot of people are having issues. Is there anything I need to avoid installing with my setup? (See setup below.)
Also, I had some issues with an unresponsive touchpad when using netbootin on a flash drive.

I'm not sure which update exactly, as I update as soon as I'm notified updates are available. But just in the last month or so, some minimized windows lose their content upon maximizing. Chrome will just have a solid blue window with no buttons (where I just had several tabs open a minute before) and Remote Desktop Viewer will have solid gray color, for example.
I am a bit confused about my current kernel/kmod-nvidia update situation. When I run "yum check-update" I am confronted with the output below:
I've been having problems with firefox3.5 for the last month (it freezes my pc). The problem was fixed by removing firefox with yum and using the firefox3.0.11 tar.bz2 file from getfirefox.com
I have not used sudo commands or the Software Updater to update Alpha 3 for the last week. I wanted to see if I would get an update notification.
I last updated on Monday, July 30th.
Running 10.10 (Just can't abide the 12.10 desktop) and everything is working fine. However I do fear installing the (hundreds) of updates as a previous experience with Mint where updates caused a previous installation (that worked fine) crashed after installing updates.
Does the old adage "if it ain't broke don't fix it" apply in 10.10 or can I be ASSURED the updates won't cause proble
I'm assuming that I have a problem I need to fix. I update my computer every couple months or so, and as soon as I do I get problems with my boot. I end up spending an hour or so in console. I usually just end up loading grub to pull out an earlier version.
I am running Fedora 12 64-bit on a MacBookPro5,1 system.
After two weeks of not running Fedora on the system, I boot into it and check for updates with Yum Extender. It only finds a small handful of updates despite the fact that my other system running Fedora 12 32-bit has installed several update over the past two weeks.
