I have a Droid Razr M, running on the verizon network. I would like to root this phone so I can use some of the more advanced features of Tasker; however, I am very fearful of "bricking" my phone. At Verizon Wireless, only the Galaxy Nexus runs Jelly Bean. Eight other phones ship with ICS: Motorola's Droid Razr M, Droid 4 and Droid Razr Maxx; Samsung's Galaxy S III and Galaxy Stellar; HTC's Rezound and Droid Incredible 4G LTE; LG's Intuition; and the Pantech Marauder. Verizon says it will ship Jelly Bean for the Razr M by the end of the year and, later, for the Galaxy S III.
I have a Verizon Motorola Droid Razr MAXX and a Droid Razr. Neither of them have service right now but I am in desperate need of a smartphone with service. Both are in new condition. I'm wondering if it is possible to get either of these phones on a prepaid service, regardless of the carrier, it can be Verizon Sprint Straight Talk, I don't care.
Looks as though Verizon is getting to the final testing stages of what will eventually be the official ICS build for the Droid Razr and Razr Maxx. A new test build (6.14.84) has been pushed out to testers and has been packaged for download for those willing to give it a run. Some of the new changes include faster speeds, a new kernel, and a new CDMA radio.
Two days ago we reported that Verizon was sending out texts to the DROID RAZR and DROID RAZR MAXX owners that an update to Ice Cream Sandwich was looming and just around the corner. And today, an ICS build running on the RAZR has leaked with the build number of 6.16.211.
