Do you know another package that I could use it instead for educational purposes? 2)What is the difference between "~$" and "/$" (it comes with cd / and cd ~) .The latter "/$" should mean the root user? 3) I also get the root user by using "sudo -s" and I get "root@ubuntu: /#" which I think stands for the root user.I have created some new users with command "adduser".The commands "useradd" and (HowTos)

Im using ubuntu 11.04 server edition and when i run the command "ls -r" as a root user after jsut calling "cd" it simply returns nothing, if i call "cd /etc" then "ls -r" it returns all the files and folders in the etc directory, i tried a restart, what is going on???

I am running GNOME Desktop on a openSUSE 11.2. I was trying to compile drivers for my intel 945g and suprisingly after a reboot i wasn't able to login as any other user except root. Here are the things that i installed
