When creating a boot-able USB or LiveUSB with Startup Disk creator in Ubuntu 12.04, the following error message appears:
Installation Failed
An uncaught exception was raised: Invalid version string 'GNU/LINUX'
What does this mean? Is there a fix for this?

I have a Macbookpro and I'm planning to create a multiple boot.
I would like to create a dual boot Opensuse/Vista laptop. My problem is I do not have a DVD-RW drive, and I am not that good with creating a bootable USB stick. I have read some of the installation guides offered here and attempted to install Opensuse via my USB stick without success.
I cant access the desktop because my harddrive is corrupted. Therefore I want to make a bootable USB stick so i can transfer all of my important files to my External HD.
Installing from a hard drive requires some work. Do you have a USB stick at hand? You could easily create a bootable USB stick with the Crunchbang ISO on it and install from that media. If you are using Windows, try the LinuxLive Installer (lili) -- when you are Linux user already, use the dd tool to copy the (hybrid) ISO to the stick.
Hello,
I am trying to install Ubuntu from a bootable USB stick. However, it seems that it is written corrupted on the USB. I have tried both the ubuntu-12.10-desktop-i386 and the ubuntu-12.04.1-desktop-i386 ISO files. I have tried Universal-USB-Installer-1.9.1.5, YUMI-0.0.7.9 and the latest version of LiLi.
