Hi,
OK, I am neither sure what these are called not if this is the proper place to report the problem, please let me know if there is a better place.
I've been a Ubuntu user for some time now. I have a very annoying problem, I have no idea what causes it, and I haven't managed to find anything relevant after Googling like crazy.
The problem is my TTY consoles are not working. Usually, these are activated using CTRL ALT F[1-6].
In my gnome GUI desktop of Ubuntu 12.04, Ctrl+Alt+Delete will log out instead of rebooting.
But I was told that
Switching to a text-based virtual console and pressing Ctrl+Alt+Delete
will reboot the machine.
Hi,
Have a strange problem with Slackware 13.0 and KDE. After start KDE I can't see no one from tty.
Combination Ctrl+Alt+F1 show me black screen. Console not seen, but active and functionary. This problem have and leave KDE. Problem I think in KDE, if I start XFCE problem no. Sorry for my english. Please help!
Hi all.
I am using windows XP as my host machine and vmware workstation 6 to install and run RHEL 5. I have set the inittab to runlevel 5. While i am in gnome, i tried pressing
Ctrl-Alt-F3 and nothing happens. I searched the net and found that i should do this
Ctrl-Alt-Shift-F3. It worked and kinda throwed me to shell mode.
On my FC 17-65 XFCE Spin system with noveau video driver, the following problem has cropped up:
I boot and login as an ordinary user. The XFCE desktop appears. I click the mouse on something and the desktop vanishes. Instead of the desktop I see the printing from the last text boot screen. Usually the login screen reappears, but sometimes I just stay stalled on the text screen.
We have about 80 systems running ubuntu 12.04 64bit desktop edition. We are facing a strange problem. Everything works fine except that after the monitor goes to sleep, if we don't wake it for long time then it stucks and won't wake up even if we keep pressing any key. But all tty consoles are working.
It was working on Gnome Fallback/Classic. But after compiz-manager package installation, I lost Ctrl + shortcut keys, they don't work anymore.
For example, in web browser typing Ctrl+C on some text makes it gray, and don't get it copied. Deleting compiz-manager and reinstalling gnome didn't solve the problem.
However, on Gnome Shell 3 all works fine.
Please, help me to solve this.
I'm using GNU Emacs 23.2.1. within Xfce 4.8.0 (both coming from the Ubuntu Natty repository). I disable the CapsLock by running /usr/bin/setxkbmap -option "ctrl:nocaps" at the beginning of the Xfce session.
When I hit the CapsLock key with some other keys, Emacs treats it as if the Ctrl key and the Shift key is pressed (Ctrl-S-whatever).
