I just installed Linux Mint Debian Edition on my friend's laptop. He's new to Linux, so I've been helping him out. The biggest problem is getting his iPhone 4 to mount. On libimobiledevice.org it shows a cool video of a guy managing his iPhone with Linux thanks to libimobiledevice. libimobiledevice.org also says libimobiledevice supports the iPhone 4.
I'm a newbie to linux (been using ubuntu/fedora for about 3 years but still don't know very much at all).
someone gave me an 'old' iphone4 (using iOS 7.0.4) but every time I connect it I get a message from the computer (running fedora 20) saying the iphone is locked, unlock and try again, and a message on the iphone asking me if i trust the computer.
After upgrading to Ubuntu 13.04 I am unable to sync my ipod touch to any of the suggested applications, Rhythmbox, Banshee, etc. I get the unable to mount error and an unhandled lockdown (-17) error and an unable to open MTP device error. Rhythmbox will sometimes detect the iPod, but will not sync and then after a few moments lose connection and crash.
A new report from South Korean publication ET News says the iPhone 6, which it calls “iPhone Air,” will be just 6 millimeters thick when it is unveiled later this year, making the handset significantly thinner than its predecessors.
