http://forums.fedoraforum.org – Hi I am installing VMware-server-2.0.2-203138.i386 on FC 12 Have an error when executing vmware-config.pl initially. When I try again it has the message:- ----------------- start of messages ------------------------------ The following VMware kernel modules have been found on your system that were not installed by the VMware Installer. Please remove them then run this installer again. vmmemctl vmci vmxnet vmhgfs vmblock I.e. - 'rm /lib/modules/2.6.31.12-174.2.3.fc12.i686/misc/<ModuleName>.{o,ko}' Execution aborted. ----------------------------------------end of message ---------- I tried remove them using modprobe e.g. modprobe -r -v vmemctl the response was "WARNING: All config files need .conf: /etc/modprobe.d/anaconda, it will be ignored in a future release." Subsequently I tried vmware-config.pl, but have the same error. Please help. Thanks in advance (HowTos)

I am having trouble running VMware Workstation 9 on Ubuntu 12.10.

After successfully installing it, at run time, the following error appears:

The VMware Tools kernel modules could not be automatically rebuilt. Please manually run: vmware-config-tools.pl --modules-only To rebuild them.

In an attempt to fix this problem, I am getting the following extra errors:

sudo sh /usr/bin/vmware-config-too

Hello everyone.

I have been playing with Fedora 18 on my virtual machine and I have two problems. When I install vmware tools everything works properly except for the shared folders.

I had troubles installing VMware Tools 9 (VMware workstation) on Fedora 18.

The VMware tools installer was complaining that the kernel-headers path was "", and I could not continue.

Hi i have installed vmware server free from rpm and xhen i run the script ./usr/bin/vmware-config.pl i get the message :

Vmware Player 5.0.0 wont start 35 weeks 16 hours ago

Hi everyone,i have a weird problem with the latest Vmware Player 5.0.0I have installed Virtualbox and everything went just fine but i can't start Vmware and neither there is a /bin directory.Kernel Headers and build-essentials is installed.When i type in terminal:azrael@crunchbang:~$ vmware-player bash: vmware-player: command not foundwhereis :azrael@crunchbang:~$ whereis vmware vmware: /etc/

i installed vmware tools yesterday and it was working perfectly fine. the reason for that is i needed to share a specific folder from the host OS to the guest OS.

today, i was baffled that the shared folder cannot be found in /mnt/hgfs/ so i went out to check the config for the vmware shared folder - it was grayed out and asked me to install vmware tools.

FC 11 under VMware Workstation 3 years 45 weeks ago

I have used Fedora 9 and 10 very nicely under VMware Workstation running on my Vista laptop.

FC 11 installs just fine. The VMware Tools install into FC 11 without error. You just cannot configure them, since the kernel is so new. The config-vmware-tools.pl script fails.

Hi,I tried to install vmwareplayer 5sudo ./VMware-Player-5.0.0-812388.x86_64.bundleWhen the installer asked me to enter the System Server Directory, I entered '/etc/rc.d'. The installer ends with the message 'Installation successfull'. On the first run, vmplayer wants to compile the kernel modules. But this fails, because vmplayer can't stop the service.
