Unable to change the icon spacing in the Application Pane

http://forums.fedoraforum.org – Due to the fact that Gnome insists that the icons in the Application Pane can be seen from the other side of town, they are way too big and spaced apart so much that it is impossible to see many on the my 23" monitor. I have edited the /usr/share/gnome-shell/theme/gnome-shell.css and successfully reduced the size of the icons. However, it does not matter what size I change the spacing to, it does not change. I have been doing this since Gnome 2 appeared. I have two questions: 1. How can I change this setting, or is this a bug? 2. Why does Gnome size everything so big? I multi-boot (HowTos)
