I have a rather simplistic understanding of file permissions on *nix systems. I understand that there is a file owner and file group, but is there a hard and fast rule on whether the said file owner must belong to the file group also? Or put another way, can a file belong to a group that the owner is not a part of?
If so (or if not), why? I'd like to increase my understanding...
One of my servers is a Windows 2003 Enterprise Edition SP2. Usually there are up to 14 people logged in during all day. They use regular programs like Office 2010 or any internet browsers and a couple of specific software as well (For banking and for their core business developing).
It seems as if almost everyone has incorporated the internet as a part of their daily activities. People are frequently using the net to communicate, socialize, listen to music, download videos and a lot of stuff we would rather not discuss. As a modern-day freelance writer, the internet is something I just can’t be without.
i just need help to write a shell script which when run should take the text doc(contains list of files which are to be copied) as input and then each file has to be checked to see if they belong to any of the 5 groupnames that we are going to mention in the other list document, id they belong to any of the group, then they should be copied to destinated location, If not we just have to ignore tho
I accidently removed my user name from most of the groups it belonged to. I indeed miswrote sudo usermod -aG agmenor agmenor by forgetting the -a option. I found this question to add myself back to the sudoers group, which I'll do at my next reboot.
But after that, what other groups should I also add my user to?
The European Union today became the latest official body to back an open Internet, ahead of an important United Nations meeting to update Internet and telecoms regulation for the first time in 24 years.
The UN's special rapporteur on freedom of expression, Frank La Rue, has tabled a report saying that there should be minimal restriction of information on the Internet but warning that Governments are increasingly controlling the Internet because of its potential to mobilise people to challenge the status quo.
i want run query to identify witch groups that user A belong,
CN=name,CN=Users,DC=mydomain ??
The world is safe from a cataclysmic world government takeover of the Internet.
