http://forums.fedoraforum.org – Hi folks; I would like to set the umask for a specific user different to all other users. I need this to apply to all files created by the user, no matter how - i.e. not only through a shell login. Is there any suitable way to do this? TIA for any help. The specific purpose is to set the permissions for all backup files to 600 (these are backup files for other machines on the network, not just the host). All backups are done by user bkp, but they use a variety of different methods (rsync, duplicity, dar over nfs, probably more to come), so I think just setting the umask in bashrc won't meet my goal. (HowTos)
