Hi there Crunchbangers!I've been using the distro for a few months now, and I love it! It's never given me any problems that I wasn't able to fix with the help of these forums, until now. I recently bought a Huawei E1691 3G dongle from the carrier WIND here in Canada.
Okay, I'm running Ubuntu 11.04.
I bought a USB Extarnal Modem. Whice is controller based, I think thats a hard ware modem correct me if i'm wrong.
Right now I'm on windows and it shows the manufacturer is "Conexant"
The thing is...how would I be able to use this in ubuntu.
As I know winmodems does not work with linux.
Well,I just got one of these Huawei usb dongles too (not sure about the model number) and only way i've managed to get it to work is:open dolphin -> automounts HiLink folder -> kdesu sh install_linux -> works. All the management is done in webbrowser so its kind of nice web dongle / 3-4G modem. You might want to google for the linux support for your modem as not all the 3G modems work

I've laptop with three USB3.0-ports.OS is Linux Mint 13 (yeah, it's Ubuntu-based). My modem Huawei E1552/E1800 could work in two modes:

The device is operating as modem and seen in Network Manager if only it's attached before OS loading. If after, it's detected as flash.
I've created a re-seller account with the ability so that he can create packages with unlimited resources.
I've given 10 GB bandwidth limit to the re-seller; if one of the accounts under re-seller uses up all the bandwidth then will the other accounts under his re-seller will go offline?

A company named Clear provides 4G internet services and sells devices for it, such as the Clear Stick Atlas. That device is supposedly to work on Linux, Android™ and Chrome OS.
My Netgear A6200 USB Modem does not work with Ubuntu 12.10 running on either a i7(2.4 Mhz w/8GB RAM, two 500GB HDs & eight USB 2.0 ports) desktop or a HP/Compaq Mini 110c Netbook (running 12.04). The A6200 modem is simply not recognized. Several older Netgear modems work with Ubuntu 12-10 fine. I tried A6200 on Wine and on a virtual Windows disk, but that was no help.
