Hi all,
Anyone noticing intermittent problems with the screensaver not kicking in or the display not sleeping? This is in gnome under F11.
I have the Power Management Preferences set to put the display to sleep after 30 minutes of inactivity and gnome screensaver is configured for 5 minutes idle time.
I usually use chrome and Firefox for browsing. I also open many tabs (around 40 in both some times).
The problem I have occurs when I resume the PC after having suspended it: It takes from 2 to 5 minutes sometimes to just get back normally.
Does this have to do with memory usage not properly resuming? Is it a bug in Chrome/Firefox or Ubuntu itself?
I'm having a really annoying problem with 12.04 that I can't seem to solve. If I leave the computer unattended for more than 10 minutes it goes into power saving mode and switches off the screen. The only way I can get back on is to log back in, which is VERY tedious.
Hi there, I'm hoping someone can help me out.
As the title states, if i close my laptop lid or lock the screen or even just leave the display to timeout on its own, the next time i go to use the computer i either get a black screen with my mouse pointer visible or i get my background wallpaper with no panel or anything on it.
I am forced to hard reboot.
Any ideas?
Thanks

I am running ubu
I am running Archlinux in a chroot alongside Chrome OS on a chromebook. The original project is there, my fork of it is here (mostly similar).
The issue is that the display power management of Chrome OS only takes touchpad and keyboard input made in Chrome OS's X on tty1 into account to reset the screen blanking countdown.
Do you have 20+ tabs open all the time while working on Firefox? Then no doubt you would have faced the trouble of Firefox consuming a lot of memory and ofcourse the large time it takes to restore all the tabs at start up. Now, you can get rid of these issues by using the Firefox addon BarTab.
hi guys i have been testing my galaxy s3's GPS. i am using osmand app as my GPS app. sadly the app could not find any satellites and pin point my current location. even if i leave my S3's GPS active for a more than 5 minutes it could not get any satellites even if i am standing on a open area.

I've noticed that my wife's screen doesn't always turn off after she puts it down. She'll leave it at the home screen and set it down. I look at it a couple minutes later and it is still displaying the screen. I've changed the time out settings to as little as 15 seconds and it is still on a minute later.
...because daily turning it off and on broke it (IMO).
I used to leave it on all the time. And the DSL modem, too. I used it for years that way. For some reason, I started turning off the router at night (by unplugging it) a few months ago. Yesterday, I plugged it in as usual and it went bonkers. Stayed that way, too. Reset doesn't work.
