First time you broke fedora because you was using standard iso without uefi support.Second time with arch you installed bootloader to mbr - most certainly this wasn't uefi install. After this I have no idea what you have done Now let's start fresh - how to install arch in uefi mode:Make sure your disk has gpt partition table - if you went back to mbr, it very easy to format to gpt and cre
Thanks for the response. I originally thought you could only install a boot loader on a UEFI motherboard if your boot drive was using GPT, but from what I understand of your post this is not required and I can either install Arch Linux in UEFI mode with an ESP or in legacy mode without an ESP.

Hey Guys! So, I just recently got a new laptop a few days ago and it came with Windows 8 (Inspiron 15z w/ i7 + nontouch (5523)) and therefore also a UEFI motherboard by default and I love it. Maybe it's because UEFI feels more modern than BIOS but that's besides the point. The problem I'm having is a little frustrating when trying to boot an ARCH_201302 USB in UEFI mode.

Hello guys
I purchased a brand new Lap Top Asus zenbook Prime, and I tried to install Backtrack 5 r3 on in it but i couldn't,
My problem was I Boot thru a flash drive because the lap doesn't have a dvd-rom, so on the boot screen option i had 2 option for flash drive
First was UEFI mode flash drive
Second was regular travel mode flash drive
I tried to UEFI, but i couldn't load the backtrack

I got a new DELL XPS 8500 with Windows 8. I understand that it has UEFI (as opposed to traditional boot-loading BIOS system).
I installed Ubuntu 12.04 (not realizing that it doesn't work as well with the secure-load/uefi system). I partitioned my solid state drive so Windows was on one partition, and Ubuntu would be on a new one (sdb7). This always worked with my PREVIOUS computer...
Hi.
What is the proper way of installing Fedora twice on a UEFI disk.
I tried but whas not able to access the old install...
i.e can 2 Fedora installs share UEFI/EFI partition ?
I access UEFI from the computer's BIOS when I install Fedora it gives me as 'Fedora entry' from the bios UEFI boot selector - however if install a 2nd Fedora that takes its place (i can;t access old version)
I'm trying to install Arch on an Asus Zenbook Prime UX31A. It already has Windows 7 x64 on it and a UEFI system partition doing the bootloading.I followed the steps for creating a UEFI bootable USB from the ISO.
