When connected to a pc moniter i have no issues. i took the unit down to connect to my sony flat via hdmi. when i powered on the machine it booted up, the purple screen, ubuntu logo then it goes into a black screen. Asks for username, then password. the only option is to ctrl alt and del, which restarts and through the same cycle.

I have an Acer Revo nettop machine running Ubuntu (12.04). Wireless works flawlessly. However, wired networking does not. If I put in a LAN cable that is known to be working on other machines, NetworkManager just endlessly cycles trying to get an IP and never succeeds. I have heard rumours this is a driver problem. Any known solution?
I would like to try Linux on my Acer Revo 3600 (ION) in the hopes that it will perform better than Windows 7, which is extremely sluggish.
"All" I need it to do is:
Run Plex Media Server
Run LogMeIn (or VNC if necessary)
Be able to connect to my network over WiFi (with dongle)
Be able to mount SMB shares on the network
Support HDMI Video & Audio output
Support the Revo's hardwa
on my Acer Revo 3610 (intel atom+nvdia ion),the kernel 3.12 just killed it.it runs to kernel panic just at booting time, and i managed to downgrade the machine but have no easy way to deliver the systemd journal log to somewhere.the kernel 3.12 may need more testing to safely upgrade.
I've got the latest Ubuntu (11.10) installed on my little Acer Revo. All the h/w works great, including HDMI output to my receiver (and subsequently TV). The problem is that it hiccups when playing music via RhythmBox. Sometimes for a 1/2 second, sometimes for 3-4 seconds at a time. The frequency is random, once every few songs or so.
I've been trying desperately to network my Acer Revo 3600 with ubuntu Karmic Koala to network my my mac.
Wireless works absolutely fine, i've set up smb & afp shares and both work. But I need the wired connection to work as transferring large files, or streaming HD content over wireless is incredibly slow.
I am considering two options for my next laptop. I am torn between a sager 6658 and an Acer Aspire V3-772G-7616. I am almost set on the Acer, but I was wondering if anyone here with recent experiences with it (especially the Aspire v3) can tell me about their build quality.
My last experience with an Acer it was made of really cheap plastic.
