http://ubuntuforums.org – Hello, I am at a loss right now. First a short history; I had an M-Audio Delta Series Audiophile 192 card that I could not get to properly work with Ubuntu Studio as it does not have a compatible chip set. I had audio outputs working but no inputs into my Ubuntu studio machine. After about 80hours of research I decided that it would be in my best interest to purchase a M-Audio audiophile 2496 card as it seems to be very popular amongst Ubuntu users. So today I purchased the Audiophile 2496 card and replaced the Audiophile 192 card. I plugged my computer back in and turned it on. Everything seemed to be fine as the computer started and got to the login screen. I left the room for about 5 minutes and when I came back the monitor was showing a black screen to which I assumed it had went into hibernation/sleep mode. However my keyboard and mouse were unresponsive. I reset the computer manually and when it restarted nothing happened (fans are running but the computer will not boot!!!!). I restarted the computer few times and onetime it got to the Ubuntu Studio scrolling screen that shows up normally before the login. Then I had some sort of kernal error messages that popped up. I took out the audiophile sound card and tried rebooting again but still the same thing was happening- the computer sounded like it was starting up however it will not boot. I tried putting in my ISO install disk and still nothing, it seems it's not recognizing the DVD ROM drive at all. I also thried using LIVE CD but still nothing but the sounds of fans and a blank screen with no power to my keyboard and mouse. Please help if you can. I have said yes to Linux as I was tiered of this sort of thing happening in Windaow. Did I do something wrong when I switched out the sound card? Any help is greatly appreciated, Ryan (Hardware)
