http://ubuntuforums.org – Hi there. I'm planning to install ubuntu in an old computer (512MB of RAM) and I want it to have xfce as its DE. So a question arised: Which of the following options would be lighter for that pc: Xubuntu or Ubuntu Server + xfce ? Any recomendations are very welcome! PS: I want to use xfce (not gnome, kde, lxde, etc.) Thanks!!! (Hardware)

I want to install Ubuntu+Xfce( not Xubuntu) Basically,what i want to do is: Install Ubuntu 11.10 Make sure that all of the settings are right. Install Xfce. How can i do it?

Hi.I know this is a widely discussed topic but I would like to "hear" your opinions according to my scenario and needs. Note: this is not intended to be a flame war :)

As the title says, a very simple question; What is the difference between a Xubuntu and an Ubuntu with XFCE (Xubuntu-Desktop packages) installed? Is there only a difference in installed packages and default applications, or are there other differences as well?

And would there be any reason to install Ubuntu with the Xubuntu-Desktop packages rather than Xubuntu itself?
