Hi im seeking support with creating a xorg.conf file. I am using an eee pc 701 laptop with an intel 910gml chipset.
What i want is to be outputting 640x480i @ 30Hz (15khz) so that the screen in my car can accept the video.
So far i have been unable to add the above resolution in xrandr using modelines that i generate in cvt or gtf.
I have an TV screen which I would like to attach to my laptop with the right resolution. Just because this is basic stuff I searched and found a lot about the xorg.conf file, modelines and so on.
My Screen has a resolution of 1920 to 1080 pixels and I created this xorg.conf
But in the nvidia settings no trace of this resolution appears.
What is wrong about this? Any Ideas?
I just got my dual screen set up in ubuntu using an nvidia GeForce 8400 GS video card. The nice thing is that it worked as an extended desktop right away. But the resolutions available are wrong. They are not as high as the monitor can go (1440x900), and they are not the right aspect ratio either.
I didn't have any luck adding new modes with xrandr commands.
Hello,
I was wondering if anyone could help me fix the resolution for my Samsung SyncMaster 941BW second monitor (along with my laptop monitor).
I've had the resolution working fine with previous versions of ubuntu (at 1440x900) but since I've updated, the xorg.conf file no longer provides the right resolutions. I had the orginal xorg.conf file, but somehow got rid of it.

I'm trying to install Linux on my ASUS X58C series laptop. It has a (very exotic) SiS video chipset, so all the distros I tried ( Fedora/Debian/Ubuntu/Linux Mint ) failed to start its normal WXGA (1280×768) resolution. "640x480", "800x600" and "1024x768" modes were started.
Hello to all.
I need to generate a xorg.conf file with the current settings of my pc.
This comes because I need to enforce my pc to use these settings when I boot.
I have a KVM switch and if the pc restart then I have low resolution and can not fix this problem till I direct connect my second screen to the laptop directly and not threw the KVM switch.
Thank you in advance!
I just installed Ubuntu 11.04 on a Pandora 945-D (using an Intel 945GM chipset).
I've noticed that there are a few problems with using the Apple Magic Trackpad by default on Ubuntu derivatives.
