I'm running Ubuntu 12.04 as the main OS on a desktop I built. It's set to lock the screen after 10 min. or so of inactivity.
I'm trying to figure out the best way to have the wifi adapter reconnect to a wireless network after it's been disconnected.
When the wifi connection is lost (due to the AP rebooting, or a weak signal, etc.), I have to manually reconnect the wifi connection (via ifdown, then ifup).
Using Fedora 17 on a asus laptop, I get a disconnect in my wireless connection.
Whats more disturbing is that I cannot select my network's ssid to connect to again !
I am running Ubuntu 12.04 on a Dell Inspiron 1420.
When resuming from sleep/suspend, it takes ~30 seconds for my preferred wireless connection to reconnect. It used to reconnect almost immediately after wakeup.
Please note: during the 30 seconds it takes to reconnect, the wireless icon in the top menubar is an empty quarter-circle.
I'm using an Acer Aspire 7520, with a AR242x / AR542x Wireless Network Adapter with a clean install of 12.04 from disk.
On bootup my wireless connection works automatically, for a while. Then after about 10/20 minutes of use, the connection drops, and when it attempts to reconnect it repeatedly asks me for the wireless password.
I'm using 12.04 (32 bit) on a dual boot machine with Windows 7.
I use a wireless adapter (USB) to connect to my router. Yesterday the wireless connection fell over and asked for input of the WPA2 password to reconnect. Entry of the password would not allow reconnect.
I rebooted.
Normally on reboot my system requests a keyring password to activate my network connection.
Hey there I have Ubuntu 9.10 and have a laptop dell e6400.
This laptop is used in a low signal situation (25%), there is no possibility of moving the router closer. My connection lasts 20-30 minutes then it is dropped and cannot reconnect, nm-applet forgets the wireless password.
My netbook model is Asus eeepc 1201n and I'm running Ubuntu 10.10 but I had the same problem while running 10.04: wireless disconnects and reconnects every 30 minutes or so and, after this has happened for a few times, it doesn't reconnect and keeps asking for the password. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance for your help!
My HTC DHD (Android 2.2.5) connects to my home wifi network when i am home. It disconnects when i go out and then re-connects AUTOMATICALLY when i come back. But it would not reconnects AUTOMATICALLY to my home network again after i go out and connect it to a public AP such as at Starbucks or McDonalds. I have to reconnect it manually.
Why my phone acts differently?
