This may be a duplicate, but I have been pulling my hair out. I just bought a new Toshiba L75D-A7283, and I really hate Windows 8.1, so I decided to put Ubuntu 12.04 LTS on it. Besides a couple of UEFI and graphics issues (which I have resolved), everything works pretty well.
I'm not able to receive a download speed of more than 56 KB/s using Ubuntu Release 12.04 (precise) 32-bit, Kernel Linux 3.2.0-41-generic-pae with the Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1030 interface on a Dell XPS L502X laptop.
Hey great community, I need your help with understanding why my internet speed (especially the download speed) is so slow on my Ubuntu machine. check this speed differences between my Windows and Ubuntu machines:
So I made the move from Windows 7 to Ubuntu 12.04 today but the Internet speed is nearly a quarter of what I was previously getting on Windows. All the Hardware is still the same as before. I am quite baffled about why it is like this.
I have tried Googling my issue but nothing seemed to work. Below is my current INTERNET speed.
Before the switch over I had 28-34Mb/s download...
I have struggled with slow wireless connection for months. To find a solution, I have searched and read many posts about slow/intermittent wireless connections, and tried the suggestions with partial success. Now I have got it working but every time I reboot my system, the wireless speed goes down significantly. I can test this by the command iwconfig.
So, I just downloaded Ubuntu 13.10 and I noticed my download is very slow. I tried to download some games through Steam and usually I have a speed of 1.5MB/S now it's between 500 KB/S and 1 MB/S all the time... I already tried some fixes I found on this website but nothing seemed to work. Any help would be hugely appreciated :D
