this is my first post in the forums. I have peppermint os, a variant of Lubuntu 12.0.4, on my laptop.
Ever since installing ubuntu, I faced problems with getting my wireless card to work. The network manager applet would tell me that I was connected with a wireless Port, but I would still be unable to use the internet (Browsers returning "not connected to network").
Hello everyone.:) I installed Ubuntu 10.04 amd64. I cannot connect via wireless. When I left clink on the "wireless" icon on desktop, not reading any wireless spots. I have RaLink RT3090 PCIe for wireless card. Then I uninstalled Ubuntu 10.04.
Next I tried running Live CD (quicker than installing) of Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat Alpha3.
Hey there, I'm completely new to Ubuntu and just installed 10.04 LTS on my Acer Aspire D250 netbook. There seems to be a problem with the OS recoginizing my wireless card. I have installed Ubuntu over windows, I don't dual boot. I am able to access the internet when I use the LAN from my other computer.
Just got a new compaq presario cq57. I've been trying all day to get the wireless working. So far i've come up with pretty much no results. i've gotten ndiswrapper and the driver for my card, and it recognizes the hardware, but the wireless card is still coming up unclaimed. I've been reading every post and how-to guide i've come across, but they haven't gotten me anywhere.
Hi all.
There's an exclamation point next to my wireless icon up at the top which concerns me. I've just installed Ubuntu 10.04 yesterday - absolutely love it.
The only problem is that I'm having trouble with staying connected to my wireless network...
When it is connected, there is an exclamation point next to the wireless icon.
Hi,
I have another problem about wireless access in Ubuntu 11.04.
After I installed the driver of the wireless card, everything went fine. The speed of downloading from internet can even reach 2 Mb/s.
But I don't know why it got very slow after one day, like 20 Kb/s:mad:.
To begin I have a Dell Inspiron 1520. I am dual booting Windows 7 and Ubuntu 10.10. My wireless card is built into the computer. The card is an Intel Pro wireless 3945 ABG. Currently wireless is work on Win 7 but not Ubuntu. The other day when I started Ubuntu wifi was working great but now when I right click on the networks icon the "enable wireless" option is listed in dark grey.
I just upgraded from Ubuntu 12.04 to 12.10, however, my network card is not working anymore... When i had 12.04 installed, i just had to download the driver from Ralink, go to the directory and enter these commands:
$ make
$ sudo make install
and the network card worked... now, when I want to do this in ubuntu 12.10, it seems like it works, but it doesn't.
Hello. I brought my computer with Ubuntu 9.10 installed alongside Windows Vista home for the Christmas break. I turned it on today in hopes that I could get on, play around with Linux a little bit, and then do some homework on it. Unfortunately, I intend to get some software which I desperately need to do my work, and this requires internet usage.
