While installing Ubuntu I connected it to my WI-fi network. But as installation finished I couldn't connect to that same network again because Ubuntu doesn't see it. It does still see other networks but not mine. Changing network name did not help nor did connecting to hidden wireless network. I'm sure I'm not alone having this issue but I couldn't find the answer.
Hi guys,
I'm a linux newbie, trying to set up a server with a wireless connection. I'm using Ubuntu Server 12.
I installed the driver for my DELL1450 wireless stuff with ndiswrapper and it works. Actually, I worked with the wireless yesterday and it worked. After that, I took my laptop to another place, and there it didn't work! I did a whole lot of things to try to get it working.
My wireless card can see networks, and when I try to connect to one, it starts the spinning icon, like it's trying, but then, after a few spins, it stops trying, giving no messages or errors.
Are there any logs I can check? I'm not sure how to diagnose and fix this issue.
I'm using Ubuntu 10.04 Netbook, with a USB plugin RT5370 wireless card.
I've been struggling to connect to my home wireless network, but up until now my Broadcom card has been able to at least detect the network. I know this because in Network manager, in the Add Network Connection dialog box, if I tell it to scan for wireless networks then I see my home network along with all the other local wireless networks.

Hello all, I've tried looking through some of the problems with wireless networking and I can't quite find one that resolves my issue. Here's the deal.
The install of Ubuntu 11.10 on this laptop is about a week old, and wireless was working with the proprietary Broadcom STA wireless drivers.
I have new System 76 Pangolin laptop. When Ubuntu first installed, wireless worked fine. I could see the internet and the wireless-attached printer on my Linksys home network. After a day or so, wireless no longer works. It is not a home network problem, because several other laptops on the same network work fine. Seems like my wifi card (Realtek rtl819xSE) is no longer powered on?
I installed Lubuntu yesterday on an older Dell laptop and the installation went fine. The only thing not working after the installation was the wireless.
My first question here.
My problem is:
I cant find my wireless network at home.
Situation:
It worked fine 7 days ago.
It works with a cable(wierd).
I find the network on my ipad/phone.
I can connect to wireless hotspot network form my phone and wireless at my university,
and it works fine.
I can connect to the network in windows
What I have tried:
Tried this Strange network issue; works
