[ubuntu] Wireless problem with ubuntu 10.10

http://ubuntuforums.org – Hi, I'm having a problem with my wireless connection in ubuntu 10.10. It will connect for about 5 minutes or so and then slow down and finally disconnect. No video & sound on Compaq CQ61 3 years 34 weeks ago

I have a Compaq CQ61-117TU laptop and I just installed Fedora 11 32-bit.

Sound: Not working at all (although devices are recognized) Video: 640x480 or 800x600 only. No 3D acceleration.

I'm not sure how to get my internal modem to work even where to start looking. I have created a mobile connection which uses asks for which country and service provider i am using. Not much detail except the number *99# and APN set to Internet.

After some serious trouble with Plasma, I decided to re-install 9.10. When booting up, I noticed that the wireless indicator light stayed on orange which usually means that the driver is not loaded. I have a Broadcom 4312 in a HP Pavilion dv6. I checked the repository but no driver shows up. I seem to remember that it used to be there.

shows the wifi as connected, but won't download - upload - etc, hardwired, or usb.

Help. I'm a complete Ubuntu newbie but I've been trying to get ubuntu 8.10 to detect my intel 5100 wireless card but it's been three days now and nothing. I've tried installing the compat and iwlwifi 5000 packages and although I think i did everything right I'm still not recieving any signal at all.
