Running on Ubuntu 12.04 with 3.2.0-30-generic kernel. lspci | grep -i ethernet Code: 03:00.0 Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications Inc. AR8162 Fast Ethernet (rev 10) Earlier rfkill was showing that the wifi was hard blocked. However wired internet was working fine. So, after few googling we installed the alx driver from compat-wireless-2012-05-10-p.tar.bz2 This is how we did it. Code: tar -xvf compat-wireless-2012-05-10-p cd compat-wireless-2012-05-10-p scripts/driver (Hardware)

I followed these steps

apt-get upgrade

Downloaded compat-wireless-2012-05-10.tar.bz2

executed bunzip2 to unzip tar file

tar -xvf compat-wireless-2012-05-10.tar

scripts/driver-select atl1c Processing new driver-select request... Backup exists: Makefile.bk Backup exists: Makefile.bk Backup exist

hi, I have Ubuntu 12.10, kernel 3.5.0-25 , and did all the updates. The wired connection is not working and for get it working I must install compat wireless drivers. I have done this once but I reinstalled Ubuntu and now it doesn't work anymore.

Actually, i am using Linuxmint 14 and my effort turned out like this:

hi all i just recently installed ubuntu 12.04 and since install i havent been able to get wireless internet to work. when i plug in the ethernet cable it works i just dont have wireless. i have been searching around and have run out of things to do.

I've just bought a new laptop (Lenovo g580), but I can't get the wired Internet working. Wireless is working flawless, but wired won't work.

The ethernet card is an Atheros card, unfortunately I couldn't find which series.
