I just installed Ubuntu on my laptop yesterday and it connected to the wireless fine. Then I took it to school, put it on their wired connection, downloaded some stuff, and now the wireless doesn't work.
At first it would detect networks, but not connect. I restarted it and now it can connect, but it acts like it doesn't have internet in the browser. Wired connection still works fine on it.
I've recently installed Xubuntu 10.10 onto my Dell Inspiron Mini (I think 1011), and found that my internet flat out doesn't work, wired or wireless. When I connect the netbook to an ethernet wire, it says I am connected, but fails to load any pages or connect to the internet for any purpose (updater, drivers, etc.).
Hi all
I have a weird problem. My Internet connection just seems to die after a few minutesof operation. If I reboot the desktop, or the wireless router or even just disconnect and reconnect the wireless network it seems to reset and internet works again for a while.
I know this is not an Ubuntu problem as it also happened under Windows XP.
I have a residential router/gateway/ADSL modem with a netbook and laptop both running #! connected wirelessly. I have an Ubuntu server connected to the router too via Ethernet. I have configured the router to give the same IP address to each machine based on Ethernet or wireless MAC address. Each of the computers can see the router and the gateway and the Internet. The two wireless #!
Hi everyone,
I am running Ubuntu 10.10 on a Dell Dimension 4700 desktop computer. I just upgraded to 10.10 from the previous version after getting my D-Link wireless adapter back after loaning it out. My internet now won't stay connected.
I just built my desktop, and connected it to the internet wirelessly shortly afterwards. I have a wireless PCI-E adapter in my motherboard. After a random amount of time(5-30 minutes), the internet stops loading. At the top corner, it still says I am connected to the internet. After clicking that icon, disconnecting, and then reconnecting once again, this same process begins again.
Hello,
On a newly purchased Acer 5250 laptop I recently installed Ubuntu 11.10, which was followed by a string of random lockups, more often than not triggered by attempting to connect to a wireless network. I decided to "downgrade" to Ubuntu 10.04 LTS, thinking it more reliable/stable.
I am running Ubuntu 11.04 on my laptop and I use a 3G USB modem for my Internet connection.
I wanted to share this Internet connection with my girlfriend's laptop that is running Window XP. Basically, I created the the wireless connection on my laptop and now it just connects and disconnects all the time. Why is it doing this?
