[ubuntu] Wireless disabled by hardware switch on HP Pavilion

I've been hovering around the forums for a while but none of the solutions i've seen have worked on mine. I'd love to have this fixed xD Laptop: HP Pavilion Dv5 Problem: Wireless disabled by hardware switch How i got here: I reformatted my entire computer and replaced my Win Vista with Ubuntu Karmic Koala then i upgraded and upgraded till i got to Ubuntu 12.04 rfkill list all 0: brcmwl-0: Wireless LAN Soft blocked: no Hard blocked: yes 1: hp-wifi: Wireless LAN Soft blocked: no Hard blocked: yes (Hardware)

After upgrading to 11.04, I have found that I can not select "Enable Wireless" because "wireless is disabled by hardware switch". There is a hardware switch for the wireless but playing with that seems to do nothing.

lspci says I have an Atheros Communications Inc.

Ubuntu 11.10 is not working the internal bluetooth on my laptop hp pavilion dv6 3152er. The problem is that the bluetooth does not find the device (phone).

hi all.. I am kind of new to ubantu.

I disabled bluetooth from bluetooth tray menu (unity), then bluetooth was disabled, and wireless disabled too. I can't enable bluetooth and wireless again. It said:

bluetooth is disabled by hardware switch wireless is disabled by hardware switch

I checked BIOS, no bluetooth, wireless option.

FN+F2 doesn't work.

sudo rfkill unblock all doesn't work.

I have a Clevo MobiNote W130EW notebook with Ubuntu 12.10 running on it. When I start the computer it shows the wireless as hardware bloked:

$ rfkill list 0: phy0: Wireless LAN Soft blocked: no Hard blocked: yes

This is even though the actual physical switch is in the 'on' position. When I flip the physical switch to 'off' and then back; the wireless gets enabled.

I have a fresh installation on my Lenovo laptop Y470, which has a Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1000 network controller. Now the problem is that I can't access my wifi router under ubuntu, but it's ok under win7.

First I'm very sure that both my hardware switch and soft switch are on.

I have a problem connecting my Dell Vostro 1520 to the Internet by Wireless.

A couple days after Ubuntu 10.10 installed on my HP CQ60-116TX, wireless network suddenly stopped working, it is said that also happened after upgrading to Ubuntu 10.10. Fortunately, I got the problem fixed after a few minutes’ searching.
