http://ubuntuforums.org – My scenario is that a friends advent laptop would not connect to his wireless connection with the Ubuntu 9.10 I had installed on it for him. I went to have a look and it would not work and ended up bringing it home with me so I take bit more time over solving the problem. Now on my wireless connection I can connect no problem and the only difference I can find is that he has wpa security and I don't. Does anyone know if wpa can stop a wireless connection from connecting and if so a way around it. (HowTos)

The router is brand new, installed yesterday. The internet provider upgraded me and made the connection a bit faster.

I am newbie to ubuntu and I installed ubuntu 10.04 along with windows XP. I am using compaq 610 laptop and using NETGEAR for wireless connection.

I created a new wireless connection in Network Manager with the security key, but unfortunately it is not connected.

I am running Ubuntu 11.04 on my laptop and I use a 3G USB modem for my Internet connection.

I wanted to share this Internet connection with my girlfriend's laptop that is running Window XP. Basically, I created the the wireless connection on my laptop and now it just connects and disconnects all the time. Why is it doing this?

I have a wireless router running wpa2 which is being used fine by a variety of devices. I have tried 2 machines now running ubuntu 12 (and tried another simmilar distro) and I can't connect. Wired connection is fine.

My computer sees the wireless network at home, ChinaNet-zbgJ. The dsl router is brand new, they just changed things to make it faster. I have the password, it is written on the router.

I just installed Ubuntu on my laptop yesterday and it connected to the wireless fine. Then I took it to school, put it on their wired connection, downloaded some stuff, and now the wireless doesn't work.

At first it would detect networks, but not connect. I restarted it and now it can connect, but it acts like it doesn't have internet in the browser. Wired connection still works fine on it.

Hi, I am learning linux on my own and, while I am loving it, I am experiencing some trouble with Wireless Connection.

My laptop is a HP G42 380LA, running windows 7 wireless connection works fine.

I installed Ubuntu 12.04LTS with Windows Installer, "Wubi".

So, Wired Connection works on Ubuntu, but when I try to connect to Wireless it keeps asking me for the password, I put the passwor
