I bought a HP Proliant n36L microserver for learning and to use it as a NAS server.
I have the server running windows server 2008 r2. I want to be able to share files between my laptop and server. The Server is connected to my router by Ethernet cable.
I have my laptop and Xbox on the same network and both can see each others shared folders which is what I use to stream movies to the Xbox.
Hi folks!
I'm a complete Android newbie. I just got my GS3 and I'm trying to figure out the best way to access the shared folders/files on my PC wirelessly via my home network.
The PC is wired to my router. The GS3 is connected wirelessly. File-sharing is active on the PC.
But where do I go from here? Do I need extra software to access the folders/files on the PC?
With 11.2 I had a printer, shared on the network, and able to print from my windows station.
When I updated to 11.3, the disk sharing still works fine, but the printer share is not accessable anymore.
I have no clue why, but in windows I see "Access dienied, unable to connect.
Offcourse I switched the firewall off, which is always the first thing I do :)
I have a Dell Inspiron 1720 running Ubuntu v10.04 with a wireless card. My desktop is a Dell Optiflex running WinXP. The desktop is connected via ethernet cable to a Linksys wireless router. Certain folders on the desktop are set for sharing. Up until early last week I was able to access the desktop folders from the laptop with no issues.
I suspect the services shared by Windows (including shared folders) can looked for with a samba command (similar to avahi-browse -a for exploring the avahi/bonjour services available in the local network).
What is this command?
(I want to use it to check that the folders shared by Windows can really be seen in the network.
I have 3 computers
1 we can eliminate as needing nfs this is the printer server. it's cups and it works :) it also is shared with a windows computer.
2&3
2 is a laptop running fedora 17 gnome 3.2 it has 2 external hard drives that are connected to it only the on terra has folders / files that I wish to share with computer number 3.
I just installed Ubuntu 11.10 Desktop on an old machine for file sharing/media streaming and data backup.
This is weird, a few days ago I had a folder on a Win98 machine that was shared over the network. This shared folder contained 4 Sub folders. I went to back them up today and only 2 of the 4 show on my Ubuntu machine. I thought... did I delete them off of the Win98 machine somehow?
Hey all,
I am trying to set up file and printer sharing between my Windows XP SP3 machine (with two printers connected via USB) and my Ubuntu 9.10 laptop which both access the Internet through a wirless router. What I am unsure of are the specific steps and processes needed to do so. I am just so confused as different sites are offering different solutions.
