[ubuntu] WICD will not obtain IP address, unless I use Wifi-Radar simultaneously

http://ubuntuforums.org – Firstly, I must prophylactically express my unwillingness to use network-manager. To do such a thing, I might as well use Windoze. I'd rather go without. I like wicd. However, Network-Manager has no trouble connecting wirelessly and obtaining an IP, none at all. Since I've uninstalled network-manager, wicd will not obtain an IP address. Though quite strangely, if I run Wifi-Radar, wicd will obtain an IP whilst Wifi-Radar continues to try, but (apparently) fails, never registering success. Again, wicd will not obtain an IP from my WEP access point, unless I run Wifi-Radar simultaneously. Someti (HowTos)
