I recently switched my old 2006 I believe MacBook to Ubuntu because I wanted to try it out for a couple of things. I decided to reformat since I didn't have the space to dual-boot, but now when I want Snow Leopard back for my MacBook it doesn't let me install. It asks what disk I want to install to, but none show up. Any help? Thanks.
I'm new to Linux. Been using Ubuntu and Mint primarily for last couple of months. Since Fedora is right behind Ubuntu at Distro-watch in popularity I was curious and downloaded the new Live CD.
I'm dealing with Ubuntu since about 5 years and installed it on several laptops. Now I'm stuck when trying to install Ubuntu 12.04.1 on a brand new Macbook Pro 13" Retina (10,2). I sucessfully can start Ubuntu from an USB stick, the Ubuntu desktop is visible, a mouse cursor is visible. But there is no respond to keyboard or touchpad input.
For the past six months, I’ve heard the same thing over and over again: “The MacBook Pro with the retina screen looks amazing. I want that screen on a MacBook Air. That would be the perfect computer.” Well, we’re almost there. Not quite.
Hi there,
I followed the instructions on how to install this and the only part I was not sure about was the partitioning, I created one partition ext3 and chose / for it, and that is, I do not want to keep OSX on the system, and want Ubuntu to login straight away.
At the moment the installation is finished and when i turn the MacBook on it shows a file with a question mark inside it, I happy to
I'm looking to install Linux on my Macbook Pro in a Dual Boot config. I've previously asked this question in a different fashion here: Dual Boot Fedora 16 with OS X rEFIt.
However, it didn't really get much attention and seems to have fallen of the radar.
NOT... Hi there, I'm happy to start my next Linux journey with Crunchbang after a few years of the easy distros. I heard good things about the community and crunchbang as a great 'intermediate' distro, so here I am. I'll post an intro once I can complete the install. I have been running a single boot Linux install on my Macbook Pro 5,5 for a few years.
Would like to install 12.04 on my wifes slowww macbook to breathe some new life into it. I find lots of write ups but not for 2,1. Is this possible to do? Grateful for any help.
Update: Want to do clean install, no OSX left :).
So I have a 2008ish intel macbook that I would like to install linux to *as the only os* (ubuntu or whatever it really doesnt matter to much). In the past I installed debian wheezy with uefi and grub booted it to a blank screen. I installed with legacy mode MBR and it did not even boot at all. Does anybody know of the best way of going at this is?
