Original title: How can i solve (un)booting windows 7 on the same partition with grub?
I've been researching for 2/3 days about this problem and I have came up empty.
Basically, partition 1 is Windows 7 and partition 2 is Ubuntu 12.04. I told Ubuntu to install into partition 2 and to install grub on partition 1 and that works fine. But the problem now is that I can't boot to Windows 7.

Hello, I just installed Ubuntu 12.04 and I can't get back into windows (no such device / file not found when trying to load windows boot loader from grub)
I have an SSD(sdb) and 2 TB HDD(sda).
I am currently dual-booting Windows and Linux (not Ubuntu), and I am looking to encrypt my Windows partition with Truecrypt. The Truecrypt bootloader must be installed on the MBR, so it will displace GRUB.
Yesterday I installed ubuntu 12.04.1.
Note : its a dual boot system along windows 7
At first grub was appearing and i was able to start ubuntu but then i had to switch to windows but windows was not booting when i select windows 7 it jumps back to grub window. So i fix the Windows Boot Loader using repair from windows media and wolla windows started to boot but Ubuntu Grub gone.
I am dual-booting Windows 7 and Ubuntu 12.04. I reduced my Windows 7 partition and increased my Ubuntu partition using gparted from a 12.04 live CD. Everything was fine for about a week.
I am trying to dual boot Ubuntu 13.04 on my MacBook and despite selecting the same partition as the Ubuntu root partition to install the bootloader, it installs Grub to the EFI partition under /EFI/ubuntu/grubx64.efi. The EFI partition is being mounted by Ubuntu under /boot/efi.
I have gone through many pains to boot through my windows 7 partition.
I had windows 7, then one fine day I installed Ubuntu and again formatted the partition where Ubuntu was installed only to find the my Windows does not boot(Probably corrupted MBR). I again installed Ubuntu later but the Grub could not detect windows.
So i manually added windows by editing the file 40_custom.
I used to dual-boot Windows 7 and Arch by installing GRUB to the root partition and then using EasyBCD in Windows to point the Windows bootloader to Arch. Now the only option I have when I'm installing GRUB is to put it in the MBR of the drive. Is there any way around this?
