http://ubuntuforums.org – Okay so I have a built in webcam on my FX Gateway gaming laptop. I deleted Windows Vista off of the system so now it is a dependently Linux 12.04 LTS system. I have tried accessing my webcam from interenet or external programs and it will NOT work. If you go on Youtube and click "Upload" there is the option to "Record from Webcam" Well I can click that and it registers that I have a webcam, but it will not let me click the "allow" button the permissions box. Hi,

I have an Asus N61J running Ubuntu 11.10.

My webcam used to work perfectly with Cheese and Skype but today it stopped working. (I did not install drivers manually for it).

I've installed and re-installed flash many times on my laptop (Philco 14d-p744lm)

When I use a website that uses the webcam in Flash, for example, Chatroulette or Omegle, and i click on "allow" to allow my webcam to turn on, it doesn't do anything.

This does not happen in Windows 7. What do I need to install/use to make my laptop webcam work with Flash?

Is it my imagination, or does KDE lack a native webcam application like Cheese?

Windows XP has something, and Gnome has Cheese but the only thing I've found is Kopete and Skype.

Skype doesn't recognize the webcam and when I try to set up the webcam in Kopete it locks the entire program and I have to force it to shutdown.

One of my friends suggested me Linux and I really love it. When I was thinking it works in all the places where I am using Windows. Then came a surprise- I tried to use skype, but other side can not see my video. when I checked the settings in Skype I realized it's not detecting webcam at all. Then I tried installing libwebcam0 or libwebcam0-dbg but could not succeed.

I have a Logitech C510 webcam connected to my desktop running 64-bit Ubuntu 11.10, but it doesn't seem to be working when I run Cheese and Skype. After doing some search, it seems this webcam should just work out of the box. However, Cheese and Skype don't seem to work with it.

I am using Ubuntu 11.10, and my webcam seems to be giving problems. The actual webcam works (at least when I use Cheese), when I click webcam I can see myself in it. However when I try video chatting with someone on gmail they cannot see me. It gives them a black screen. But I can see myself and them.
