I have a custom-built computer and the Ethernet port and my wireless USB card (Belkin DB600) both don't work. The Ethernet port didn't work for Windows either, I had to install the drivers using an image of the driver disk on my laptop.
The only issue I have with my Ubuntu install is my INTERNAL card reader not working (Thought I'd state this first, in case anybody decided to tell me to unplug it and plug it back in :P )
When I type in lspci this is what I get..
