I found the idea of using an internet weather service to display weather information in a terminal here on the forum.
Ubuntu has no weather indicator by default since the switch to Unity. The only indicator I found in the repos is "indicator-weather". This one only half works. Sometimes the temperature next to the icon is gone (maybe the Google Weather API is to blame for this as I had the same trouble with a KDE weather indicator) and not all weather situations have a monochrome icon.
In Ubuntu 12.04, one of the Gnome 2 applets that I miss the most is the Gnome Weather Report applet.
I like the fact that this applet provides: (a) a screen with a summary of current local weather conditions,
(b) a separate screen that displays the forecasts of the pertinent weather office (in my case, the U.S.

After the intial set-up of Fedora 17, I could open Firefox and view my web cams around the grounds without any problems. After 2 updates through YUM Extender, they stopped working. I only get a screen listing the applications that are enabled. I get no video, no set-up options, and no controls whatsoever.
