[ubuntu] Waking from sleep = Black screen, moving mouse

http://ubuntuforums.org – Hi all, I've got Ubuntu 9.10 64-bit running on a Lenovo Thinkpad T400. My problem is getting this machine to wake up from sleep. I used to have another problem and fixed it reading the hardware compatibility guide posted on the Ubuntu website. Recently however, I've installed cpu frequency via cpufreq and the acpi-cpufreq driver (which I believe is through the kernel) and it has really improved my battery life. Problem is that I now can't seem to get the laptop out of sleep. What's happening is that the screen turns on and I can see a fuzy-ish red line up top. After a few moments, the mouse will move but that's it. Computer is completely unresponsive & I'm forced to cut the power & reboot. I say computer is unresponsive because closing the lid doesn't put the computer back to sleep. If I leave it running long enough, I can hear the system fans kick in as if the CPU is perhaps caught in an endless loop? Thanks in advance! (Hardware)
