I have a server serving at 0.0.0.0 (for all interfaces)
And my machine has 2 connections one ethernet eth0 and other a ppp0 (3G card)
First without the ppp0 connection active I have the following route table:
Destination Gateway Genmask Flags Metric Ref Use Iface
default DD-WRT 0.0.0.0 UG 100 0 0 eth0
192.168.1.0 * 25
I need to connect to server via SSH. SSH is blocked for "unknown" ip addresses, so VPN should be used.
I'm using Ubuntu and when the VPN (pptp) connection is established all the traffic is routed through ppp0 (VPN) interface. How to use VPN connection to connect only for specific port (or service - ssh)?
I'm using wlan0 interface, but sometimes eth0 interface.
Normally I connect to the LAN using my wifi connection on my netbook. Having said that, I don't remember the last time I used my eth0 connection. Now I just found out tonight that the wired connection is not working.
When I plugged in the ethernet chord it connected with auto eth0. It even saw the other computer on the network but it does not go online. I tried restarting the network service and adding these lines to ect/network/interfaces
iface eth0 inet dhcp
After doing this "eth0" changed into ifupdown(eth0) and now does not connect at all. I'm also unable to edit the connection.
I am trying Ubuntu on a trial basis to see if I think I could use it in place of Windows. One of the things I can do in Windows is connect my XP laptop thru a wireless access point which is connected by ethernet cable to my desktop, which is set to share its internet connection. The desktop connects to the internet by dialup.
