Hi all -I have done a fresh install, added printer support through the post-installation script, installed hplip and xsane but when I try to print the print job status sticks at 'processing' and when I use simple-scan it reports 'device is busy'.I can print and scan under Ubuntu 12.04 so I know it isn't the machine or the cables.Does anyone have any suggestions please?
I am trying to setup up an HP Officejet G85xi printer through an Iomega Home Media Network Hard Drive, so that the printer can be shared over the network without requiring that an attached computer be turned on to print. There is a place on the back of the Network Hard Drive to plug in the printer with USB.
I had a major crash on my ubuntu 12.04.lts computer system.
I had to push the restart button in order to get the computer to run again.
Info: I installed virtualbox latest edition and the extension pack.
It succeeded, but when I tried to import virtual machines into virtualbox,
from a usb hard drive, the system froze.

I'm a total noobie to Linux, #! is my first try at it, and I'm loving it. I have a HP Officejet 4110 which I can't get to scan. I've searched the forums and tried all the tips I could find that seemed like they might work, but no luck. Installed hplip, hpijs, cups, system-config-printer-common, and all show as newest version already installed.
HI,
I am trying to print to my Lexmark 6500 series printer. From Ubuntu and Xubuntu. It is wirelessly connected to my router. I was wondering do i need a print server like a windows machine or like a Ubuntu one or can i just directly connect.
Thanks in advance
Upgraded Ubuntu 11.10 to 12.04 & printer/scanner not working, in System Settings/Printers/Print test page it just stays in queue, under Options there are no Allowed Users. Simple Scan says Unable to start scan, Xsane ditto plus Error during device I/O. Google has a hundred different solutions for every hundred different contributors, most out of date, tried reinstalling hplip.
I have a Brother HL-3045CN printer which is installed on my machine (Ubuntu 12.10) over the network. I can print but all the pages are off in the margin (too much to in the left and bottom) and maybe out of scale (can't tell). I got the driver from Brother's site and have tried reinstalling.
