Turned on my laptop on today and is almost impossible to use due to the screen almost completely dimmed. I dual boot with 10.04 so I am using that right now.
The dimming begins right when the ubuntu logo and dots appear, is dimmed with the nvidia splash screen, and login screen.
Here is a screenshot of 12.04 I took after boot.
My Desire has developed a problem recently, which leads to the battery running down. After the phone has been on for a while (running on the battery), the screen does not automatically turn itself off.
I have no problem with my video on my ASUS G73JH laptop. In fact, it works pretty well! ^^ But the problem is when i shut the lid to my laptop. When i lift it back up, the screen in blank. It's like it's not even turned on! Whats going on? IS there any way to fix this?
EDIT: And yes, the power setting have been configured so that it doesn't suspend the computer every time i close the lid.
I want to disable suspend/ screen blank so that the laptop (ASUS F6J running Karmic 9.10) remains on once the lid is closed. I use a monitor plugged into the laptop when I work at home and want to stack the laptop on a small shelf. I use the machine on ac power all the time to am not worried about batteries.
When your Ubuntu laptop is running on battery, the screen will dim when it is idle in order to save power.
I'm running Ubuntu 12.04, and my laptop* won't wake from sleep/suspend/hibernate. (Is sleep the same thing as suspend?) I'm not even sure which of these things it's doing. When I am done working for the day, I lock my screen (Control-Alt-L).
Scrolling through the installed apps in the home folder I've encountered a glitch. First the window disappeared suddenly and was replaced by a software update information window(that didn't ask for anything). Second time the window disappeared again and the screen temporarily dimmed. Third time the window went, screen dimmed and locked the computer.
Hello i am experiencing a strange problem under Ubuntu 12.04.
If I unplug the charger while my laptop is on,i don't see any messages but my laptop goes straight into a suspend or hibernate mode and it's a real pain to get it stable again afterwards.
It always suspends (or hibernates)
It always takes 2 attempts to restart it (press power button, it starts and it hibernates again, press power butt
I hardly ever put my laptop on suspend/hibernate, so I don't know how long I've had this issue for. I'm on Ubuntu 11.10. When I turn my laptop back on again from suspend- a blank screen shows up and none of the keyboard buttons/touch-pad respond; only way to recover is holding down the power button to restart.
