http://askubuntu.com – I have a netbook (an older Asus EEEPC 1005HA) which I want to get rid of Windoze on (I like Windows, but I don't think it works well in a netbook environment). Basically, my question is which Ubuntu variant will use the least RAM and CPU running idle, and/or the same question except when running Firefox and Libreoffice Writer, say. I am also open to suggestions of non-Ubuntu Linux distros, but since this is AskUbuntu I thought the first question would be more appropriate. I have a disk drive which I can attach to the netbook, so it doesn't have to be a Ubuntu Variant / Linux Distro which so (HowTos)

I'm looking for a linux netbook. My first choise is the EeePC 1225C which would be perfect for me. But the only store where I can find this netbook is the Italian Fnac store -> http://www.fnac.it/Asus-Eee-1225C-BK...a659083?PID=10 The problem is that they don't ship this to Belgium.

I have a netbook (Asus EeePC Seashell series 1015CX) and I wanted to put Ubuntu on it. However once I have made a Bootable USB and used the Test Mode the graphics that were present were unsatisfactory. I believe that my netbook has integrated graphics (I am not an expert).

I want to load the most current (Ubuntu 12.4 is the number I think...) on it but cannot even figure out how to find out which version is currently running on this netbook. Hello guys: let me ask you a question: Is it possible to have a UNR for a netbook and uninstall unity. I know it was discontinued in 11.10 but is technically possible to have it with the 13.04 release?

I have a eeePC netbook 701 and running 8.0.4 ubuntu.

This is what happens.. turn the netbook on, and right after the ubutunu screen loads the netbook just shuts off completely.

any ideas?

Something I've noticed with every linux distro I've installed on my netbook, especially crunchbang, is that linux makes my netbook run too hot!I usually like to lay down with my netbook on my chest or on my lap but with it being so hot I can't stand having 50-60c heat pumping into me, not only that but the Acer Aspire One AOD257 has a tendancy to shutdown at random when it gets a li
