Hi,
So, I start Ubuntu on my laptop, then I plug in my external monitor and I go to preferences and click on display to change the screen from laptop io the external one, just as I click on display, the laptop screen goes dark, only I see the mouse pointer, and nothing on the external screen.
If I turn on the computer with the external display plugged in, everything works fine.
I have the same issue on two laptop computers with Intel Graphic Chip sets.
1st Laptop - Intel GMA 4500
Laptop display resolution is fine however external monitor will not go higher than 1024x768. On windows this computer manages 1366x768 with the same monitor.
2nd Laptop - Intel GMA 950
Laptop display resolution is fine however external monitor will not go higher than 1024x768.
Dear all,
I have a Dell XPS13 connected via a mini-display port+DVI cable to an external monitor. I have installed Kubuntu 13.04 and all is working well, EXCEPT that the resolution on the external monitor only mirrors the resolution of my laptop screen (1920x1080). I only see one "default" screen when I try to set it up (settings-> display, or kcm_screen).
Hello,
I've recently installed Ubuntu 11.10 32bit on my laptop. I use a 2nd monitor connected to my laptop and after installing & updating Ubuntu for the first time, I went to display settings to set the monitor as the main display and deactivated the laptop screen display.
I have a Sony Vaio laptop running F17/KDE4.9, with Intel Mobile GM965/GL960 graphics. Laptop display resolution is 1280x800. I connect a new ACER 1920x1080 external monitor via VGA cable (no other socket on laptop) hoping to have the option of using it at native resolution but am only offered 1280x800. How can I get the correct resolution offered in the Display Settings GUI?
Hi,
I'm using ubuntu 11.10 (64 bit) on a Dell Latitude E5410.
Since yesterday my main display is blacked out. My External display however does function correctly.
Rebooting the system, disconnecting the external display and changing the preferences in the display preferences doesn't change anything.
What can I do next?
Kind regards Bram
Opensuse 11.3
KDE 4.4.4
ati radeon 4330 with default driver - nouveau (although laptop has hybrid graphics i was eventually forced to switch intel off, because automatic switching dont work with X and both systems are consuming power - but this is another story)
Ill describe 2 use cases how it should work:
I have a 13" MBP running Fedora 18. When the systems goes into powersave mode and shuts off the display (which I would like it to do after a period of time), the laptop screen wakes from sleep, but the 30" external monitor does not. If I unplug the monitor and plug it back in it restores the display.
Not a major issue, but a bit of an on-going annoyance. Anyone else experiencing this?
