[ubuntu] USB mouse not working after kernel upgrade

http://ubuntuforums.org – Hi, Running 12.10, recently upgraded kernel to 3.5.0-21 to fix some graphics problems I was having. I posted to askubuntu (http://askubuntu.com/questions/23716...t295136_237167), so wont repeat everything. My USB mouse doesn't work now, from what I can tell its a kernel/driver issue. I would prefer to fix the mouse than to revert to an older kernel and fix the graphics which have given me quite a bit of grief in the past. I would also imagine that getting a mouse to work should be easier than graphics ;) Any help would be great, thanks. (Hardware)

Namely that after installing Ubuntu 12.04 and going to log in, I am met with a frozen slate of a desktop in which nothing loads (at longest I've sat for 30 minutes, reading, whilst nothing changes) and only the mouse moves.

Its not a blank screen, its the desktop that one is normally greeted with, just with nothing loaded.

I have a Microsoft-Explorer-Mini-Mouse (which happens to be a good product on Windows) http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-5BA-00001-Explorer-Mini-Mouse/dp/B001F7ARTQ, however Ubuntu only recognizes it as a generic mouse with know thumb (back) button or tilt wheel.

I'm trying to fix the gaps between the indicator icons. Using Ubuntu 12.04 gnome classic.

Actually I managed to install fglrx on 3.7.2-pf kernel, using this howto: http://askubuntu.com/questions/224663/h … 664#224664Newest fglrx module managed to fix black screen problem on resume and 3.7.2 kernel managed to fix pulseaudio and wi-fi stability problems.

I have a Intel Cedar trail netbook. For graphics to work, i had to build kernel 3.1 with the drivers. I followed the steps in this document - http://download.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/sb/enabling_hardw...

After doing that, now my graphics is fine, but my mouse scroll does not work. Is that because I have not build the kernel properly?

In an effort to fix problems which I was having with 12.04 on the stock kernel, I had updated to v3.5.1-quantal successfully in terminal from the following official website:

http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/

Upon reboot, the position/resolution of the screen was changed, and my mouse no longer works.

hi everybody, sorry for reposting this topic but I think maybe this forum is the more appropriate place.... I recently installed the realtime kernel according to this manual http://askubuntu.com/questions/72964...ealtime-kernel used the version given there...

I m starting to have lot of favorite questions in my AskUbuntu account. So it takes my time to search and find a Question in my favorites.
